Dr. Betty Oluwafunso OLOJEDE is a Full Member of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) (Membership No. 3894) and a Registered Member of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) (Registration No. 3083). In 2024, she earned certification as a Carbon Assessment Professional from the Green Building Council of Nigeria (GBCN). She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Quantity Surveying (2018), an M.Sc. in Quantity Surveying (2015), and a B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying (2010, Second Class Honours – Upper Division) from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. She has received several awards, including the Masters Bill Microsystems Limited Prize for the Best Graduating Student in Computer Application to Quantity Surveying, OAU, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, in 2010; Best Female Candidate in the 2014 Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Professional Examination (Test of Professional Competence); and the NIQS EagleHeart Scholarship for a PhD candidate in 2017. She has more than 10 years of experience in the private and public sectors.

She currently lectures in the Department of Quantity Surveying at OAU, Ile-Ife. From 2023 to 2025, she taught at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Osogbo, gaining experience in both the Department of Building and the Department of Quantity Surveying. She served as the pioneering staff member and acting Head of the Department of Quantity Surveying, contributing significantly to its establishment at UNIOSUN. She also had a brief teaching engagement at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Nigeria, in 2022 before transitioning to UNIOSUN. She actively contributed to the development of undergraduate curricula aligned with the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standard (BMAS) and the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standard (CCMAS) for the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Quantity Surveying at Redeemer’s University and UNIOSUN, respectively. Altogether, she has over three years of university-level teaching experience.

She contributes to knowledge through research, with up to 15 publications comprising journal articles and peer-reviewed conference papers in both local and international outlets, of which 6 are Scopus-indexed. Her research focuses on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) construction procurement, construction sustainability and project management, construction innovations, and gender issues in the built environment. She has professional training in areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modeling (BIM), Construction Data Analytics, Project Management (PMP-Certified), and Workplace Health and Safety (CIEH Level 3, United Kingdom), to enhance her expertise in the Quantity Surveying profession.

Before transitioning into academia, she gained more than 8 years of practical industry experience in the public sector with the Osun State Government. She served in the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Office of Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs, Government Secretariat, Abere, Osun State, Nigeria. She was involved in several development projects, including cost management for public buildings and water resources projects, as well as projects co-funded by the European Union (EU) and Osun State across the state. Among these were the construction of the Head Office Complex Building for the Osun State Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA), renovation of Ataoja Model High School, renovation of the Ifetedo primary health center, and the rehabilitation of EU-WSSSRP II projects in Ajebamdele, Ile-Ife, and Erimo, Osun State. She rose to the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor before transitioning into academia in 2022. She also worked with several registered private construction firms in various capacities, further enriching her professional background.
